Dean Nohema Fernandez of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UCIrvine speaks of the motivation she had to create the Medici Circle scholarship program for students with activities during the summer months. She’s joined on the podcast by graduate student Kara Miller who used her Medici Circle scholarship to create a dance documentary, The Making of Watergirls, on the island of Sri Lanka last summer.

It’s a gorgeous film that never would’ve been made without the Medici Circle.

The podcast opens with Medici Circle scholars Shoko Fukumaru performing Franz Schubert’s Impromptu op. 142 no. 3 and closes with Manuel Laufer and Eunhee Kim performing Beethoven’s Violin Sonata op 12 no 1.
